Disclosure of customers’ confidential information

When you become a customer of GrønlandsBANKEN, we are required to collect a range of information about you. This includes, for example, your name, address, and national identification number (CPR/CVR). You must provide documentation for this information.

In addition, we may need other information about you. This information is used for administration, credit assessment, advisory services, and to offer you the financial services currently provided by the bank, as well as those we may provide in the future.

It is voluntary to provide the bank with information beyond your name, address, and CPR/CVR number. However, if we do not have sufficient information, we may not be able to fully advise you, process a loan request, or otherwise serve you.

When does GrønlandsBANKEN disclose your information?

The bank’s employees are subject to a legal duty of confidentiality and may not unlawfully disclose or misuse your confidential information. This follows the provisions of the Financial Business Act.

GrønlandsBANKEN may be obligated to disclose information to public authorities, such as the tax authorities.

We also disclose information to the extent permitted by law. This may include your name and address in connection with transfers to accounts in other financial institutions – including those abroad.

GrønlandsBANKEN may also disclose standard customer information such as name, address, and CPR/CVR number when necessary to carry out administrative tasks for the bank.

Requirements from U.S. authorities for international transfers

When transferring money abroad, please note that information may be disclosed to U.S. authorities. SWIFT – which processes the payments – is required to provide information if there is suspicion of financing crime or terrorism, pursuant to U.S. legislation.

Finally, GrønlandsBANKEN may disclose information if you have given your consent. You may always change or withdraw your consent.

If GrønlandsBANKEN’s information is incorrect

If it turns out that the bank’s information about you is incorrect, we will correct it immediately. At the same time, the bank will notify any third parties who received the incorrect information.
