Information for customers regarding the processing of personal data
GrønlandsBANKEN wants our customers to feel confident in how we handle personal data. We follow industry standards in this area and use IT systems that ensure the proper handling of your personal information.
We aim to provide our customers with the same level of data protection as customers of Danish financial institutions. As a customer, you can read more about this in the bank’s General Terms and Conditions, where we have outlined your rights concerning the processing of your personal data.
Greenlandic data protection legislation is not identical to Danish data protection legislation (GDPR), and we have identified three areas where GrønlandsBANKEN differs from how Danish financial institutions handle personal data:
Data breaches
A data breach occurs when a customer's data is unintentionally handled inappropriately. If we become aware of a data breach, we will handle the situation in the same way as Danish financial institutions: we will inform the customer and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. However, the bank is not permitted to report data breaches to the Danish Data Protection Agency, as the agency does not have legal authority to process such notifications in Greenland.
Fines
The Danish Data Protection Agency does not have the authority to impose fines on GrønlandsBANKEN for violations of your rights as a customer regarding the processing of your personal data.
Communication with public authorities
In relation to Danish authorities, we use secure channels and are compliant with regulations for sending and receiving secure emails. Regarding Greenlandic authorities, we follow the guidelines provided by the relevant public bodies in Greenland.
