The Business Fund’s Entrepreneur Prize 2020

Grønlandsbankens Business Fund has today, November 25, awarded the fund’s Entrepreneur Prize to Anders Lykke Laursen from Nuuk Water Taxi and Jesper Øraker from Greenland Escape.
For a number of years, the Business Fund has awarded its Entrepreneur Prize to individuals or companies who, through their work, have demonstrated particular drive, commitment, and remarkable initiative. Over time, recipients have come from various parts of the country and from different industries.
This year, the board of the Business Fund has chosen to award the 2020 Entrepreneur Prize to two recipients: Anders Lykke Laursen from Nuuk Water Taxi and Jesper Øraker from Greenland Escape.
The prize includes a monetary award of DKK 25,000, with half granted to each recipient.
Chairman of GrønlandsBANKEN’s Business Fund, Kristian Lennert, explains the decision:
“The 2020 Entrepreneur Prize is awarded to Anders Lykke Laursen and Jesper Øraker based on their innovation and creativity within the tourism sector.
Anders Lykke Laursen receives the Business Fund’s Entrepreneur Prize 2020 because, as an entrepreneur, he has managed to create a wide range of experiences with Greenland Water Taxi. Here in Nuuk, the recognizable yellow fleet of water taxis sails year-round, giving tourists the opportunity to explore the fjords around Nuuk. Nuuk Water Taxi’s deep knowledge of the area brings tourists closer to nature. The close interaction between captain and tourist allows for the sharing of anecdotes and stories about Nuuk and Greenland, adding new dimensions to the visitor experience. Anders Lykke Laursen has demonstrated that rethinking transportation and tourism experiences can result in a thriving business and the development of new attractions.
Jesper Øraker receives the Business Fund’s Entrepreneur Prize 2020 because, as an entrepreneur, he has succeeded in crafting a new product that focuses on high-quality service for tourists and has created tailor-made solutions through Greenland Escape. Greenland Escape serves as a point of contact for tourists, from cruise ship passengers to VIP clients seeking a unique service experience.
Jesper and Anders have succeeded in creating new offers for tourists and have strengthened collaboration between various tourism operators for mutual benefit, where different services and skills are combined into a complete experience for the visitor. We at GrønlandsBANKEN’s Business Fund view this as an achievement that helps develop local tourism, provides inspiration to others, and deserves recognition.
