Legislation requires that all banks must be able to document who their customers are – regardless of how long the customers have been with the bank.
Grønlandsbanken, as a financial institution, is legally obligated to always maintain accurate and up-to-date identification for all our customers. This applies to both new and existing customers.
Do we need identification from you?
If you have received a request from us either as a message in online banking or by letter, we ask you to submit the requested identification either via online banking or by using the form below.
Submission of Identification
You can transfer a copy of your identification via the form at the bottom of the page. The transfer is encrypted.
You must provide at least the following identification:
- Passport + residence certificate
- Driver's licence + proof or residence
- Passport + baptismal certificate or name certificate or
- Driver's licence + baptism certificate or name certificate
If you do not have a photo ID, you must provide at least the following identification:
- Residence certificate + baptism certificate or name certificate or
- Residence certificate + marriage certificate
Are you not a Nordic citizen?
If you are not a national citizen of the Nordics, you can expect to be requested to submit a copy of residency permit and TIN number certificate from your country of citizenship.

You can attach file formats: jpg, png, word, or pdf.
If you have a file that contains 2 types of identification, simply attach the file under "Copy of other documents".
Note! If you take pictures of your identification documents with a phone, it’s a good idea to delete the images once they have been sent. Keeping the images on your phone can lead to identity theft if the phone is stolen or hacked.
